About Dinedor Heritage Group

DHG is a group of local enthusiasts who want to preserve and bring to the attention of the wider public the fascinating historic heritage of the area. Dinedor has a history going back to the late Stone Age/early Bronze Age – the Rotherwas Ribbon or Serpent. It has an Iron Age hill fort – Dinedor Camp – and an abandoned medieval village which we are about to start exploring with the benefit of a Lottery Heritage Millenium fund grant.  The wider area links to Rotherwas House – now demolished – but with many existing dwellings on Dinedor Hill originally belonging to the estate.

The new project, as well as exploring the medieval sites, will establish a historic walk with information boards at points of interest, carry out exploratory digs in residents’ gardens and finally will produce a book about the history and heritage of the area.
